How come some peoples names are different ?

Like have purple writing under thier name ?

Those are titles, which you can display under your character name. If they are members of a guild, their guild tag follows their name in brackets.

Yep, those are titles. You get them by performing different tasks. For example, someone with "Legendary Survivor" gained their first 1,337,500 XP without dying. Here's a link that covers titles: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Title

Also, the name colour in an outpost is different wether the person is or not in party.

yea between guild tags and ttiles peoples names are always different.

also no 2 ppl can have the same name <3
